I wonder about the inclusiveness of the poll. I mean is cheesecake a cake or a pie? I vote pie.

Also, where's the strawberry-rhubarb cobbler. You don't mess with another man's rhubarb, and that goes double for cobbler.

The biggest omission, though, is KEY LIME!

cheesecake is NOT a pie.

and FRUIT IS NOT DESSERT, people!!!

two things make up a dessert:

1. chocolate
2. chocolate

... that is all.

Kali, your hormonal. We can't trust anything you say right now.

COCONUT CREME, YOU F*CKING HEATHANS.

Cullen said...

Your ... der, der, der.

I could blame it on the Vicodin I guess. Hurts my spelling, intensifies my clarity about pie.

kalipornia said...

vicodin and clarity never really went together with me... perhaps something about the "as prescribed" bit on the bottle...

oh yeah and WTF is MINCE MEAT anyway???

Kind of like one of those Hostess fruit pies. Speaking of which, does Spiderman sponsorship increase the savory nature of a pie?

Cheesecake is a CAKE not a PIE.

I'm gonna go with pecan being that I just ate the last slice of pecan pie. For lunch.

For the record, cobblers are not pies... That's why they're called cobblers... Just like cheesecake is a cake... It's not called cheesepie, for fuck's sake...

Pies for the win!

Cullen said...

Yes, it is called cheesecake but in all other ways besides the name it behaves like a pie. It is baked like a pie. You create a filling like a pie. And it is put into a shell of some kind. Like. A. Pie.

Following your logic, eating a Baked Alaska would mean you're chowing on semi-arctic tundra.

And, for the record, you're the one who had peach cobbler on the original list.

That's a fair cop on the cobbler mishap (I copied and pasted the original voting list outta my email and I made a mistake...), but I stand by the list being pie only... Now who's up for some Baked Alaska ?

Lemon meringue.

You take the meringue off if you don't want it right away and save it for later. It's whipped egg whites and sugar! What's not to like! Unless you're diabetic! And then there's always SPLENDA!

The lemon custard is like Jell-O except it's actually good!

So you have the perfect pie – eat it all at once, or it magically becomes two snacks, like a Transformer! But not Optimus Prime, that's actually like a Baby Ruth bar.

kalipornia said...

meringue can be on any pie. i love meringue.

lemon, however, eeeeewwwwwwwwww..

Oh, well, yes, that's true. But it's magical on lemon.

lemon, however, eeeeewwwwwwwwww..

Well, you prepare it. You don't have to, like, lob'em in the pie shell and eat 'em whole. Though that would be awesome in some inexplicable way.

If cheesecake isn't pie then I have to go with pizza. Isn't pizza pie? Every new york person I ever met referred to it as pie. I vote pizza.

I'm with samuel john etc, etc...

almost, anyway. The only thing better than lemon meringue is something called a lemon angel pie. It's basically a lemon meringue pie, except the filling is closer to pudding than Jell-O. Absolute heaven!

@ No One ...

Lemon angel pie? Nomnomnomnom ...

Tho I must say, something about that name strikes me as slightly on the macabre side.

Those dead lemons ... they're on your conscience.

Fruit is a dessert when surrounded by lard-based dough and sugary substances.
Or covered in chocolate, which fits kali's rule.

Strawberry-rhubarb or pecan...decisions decisions. Of course, both have to be made correctly. My Aunt Kate made the best strawberry-rhubarb in my known universe and my wife's pecan pie is just...shivers...frakking amazing.
